UMass Boston Community Resource Dog

We've raised $7,210 so far!

Help Support UMass Boston in Getting a Community Resource Dog!

The Community Resource Dog program is part of an effort by the UMass Boston Police Department to seek new strategies for responding to calls in a way that fosters positive interactions and de-escalates situations with our campus community.

This newly established program will help the department better respond to the specific areas of victim’s advocacy, mental health, and trauma. In addition, as an agency that embraces community engagement, a Community Resource Dog  is a beneficial tool to serve our university community in a unique way. Dogs transcend cultures, religious beliefs, and political affiliations. A Community Resource Dog  would provide a segue into establishing stronger relationships and partnerships with our diverse population.

Funding will support:

  • Purchase of the puppy
  • Initial and on-going training
  • Veterinary appointments
  • Retro-fit police cruiser
  • Food

Please consider making a gift to support our UMass Boston Police Department in getting a Community Resouce Dog for our campus!
